40 Knots and head down south.

So day 2 in Rotorua, today we headed into town and parked up nearer to the cop shop as this looked pretty safe with around 10 cop cars on the same area. We headed in and around town, going for a coffee at Aunty Annies café. We then did a little shopping looking for another dress for Amanda with no success, I also had a browse around the MacPac store, very much liking the down jacket for $99. I ended up getting a t-shirt down from $40 to $20 [£10] bargain.

We headed on to the Jade mountain store where Amanda got a jade necklace, I already have one. We had lunch in the van before heading off on a walk along the lake side and back through the rose gardens. The afternoon brought with it a trip to the Redwoods forest. It’s a cool place and would be great to camp out in! Plenty of pictures were taken by both. On to the lake were we stopped for dinner before back of to our overnight stop.

Monday up and into town for a skype and some blog updates. Then on down the road to Taupo around 80km so just over an hour’s drive. On the way we tiki toured of to some mud pools for a couple of pictures. We got to Taupo and went to ‘The Honey Hive’ where I had been a couple of weeks before. It was great to go back as I knew I would have another honey ice cream, Amanda enjoyed it as well after this on to Huka falls before heading on to meet up with her old school friend Lucy.

We arrived and it was all good, I got chatting to Lucy’s man and we all chilled out for a while. They all went of for a walk and I tied up the van before going of to the dump station to empty it, yep I’m the one that has to deal with the loo. [@ CJ call me Dynorod 😉 ]

That evening was toy story with the kids and a BBQ dinner with a view over the lake, not bad really.

Tuesday, Up and out of the house early as we were of to the lake to go donuting. Well were was the sun today it was bloody cold at 14’C and the water was not fun to get in. Amanda had a great time on the donut with lucy and they got some speed up 40 knots. As I was a man I got properly bashed around behind the boat 42 knots apparently, well quick enough the girls had to sit on the floor of the boat. Any make your mind up video below . From here we had the 380km down to Wellington, we stopped around 4pm for lunch at a Mc D’s as I fancied hot food after driving in the rain, which wasen’t that fun.

We got to Welly and I was glade to not be driving much more as it’s a long old drive after the mornings activities. We had plans to stay at one of Amanda’s friends but this diden’t work out so we paid $5 to stay at a working men’s club out of town in Lower Hutt. This was a result as we had electric hook up and were allowed in where pool was $1[50p] for 30mins and 2 pints for $10[£5].
