A Right Royal Run

Friday

Today I was up late and headed for the observatory on the way I passed the contemporary art museum where there was a big crowd was. I stopped and asked a chap what was going and he said they were all gathered to see HRH Prince Charles. I chatted for a while and about 15mins later charly boy turned up. Said hello got a couple of pictures and then I moved on.

I sat in the park of the observatory for a bit and admired the view and took some photos. Afterwards I visited the observatory. It had some very good pictures of the transit of vensus. After looking around the exhibit I sat outside and had lunch. I then headed to the quay and took a ferry to Sydney Olympic wharf. This took about 50mins and just as we left the sunshine turned to a hailstorm, it was quite spectacular to watch. On arrival to the Olympic wharf I discovered it was about 3km to the Olympic area and stadium. Luckily there was a bus at the wharf going there so I hopped on. The bus dropped of close to the railway station and I note in just over an hour a train returning, giving enough time to see the stadium. So I headed to the ANZ stadium and found it was closed 🙁 not sure why so I walked around it and had a wandered around the rest of the area. It was quite busy as they were preparing it for the super V8 car race next week.

I headed to the train station in time to get the 4pm train and my ticket didn’t work. Turns out I was outside Zone1. So ok I’ll get the bus and ferry at 4:30. I got to the bus stop about 4:05 and found the next bus was at 4:20 and would get to the ferry after 4:30. Quick look at the map about 3km was quickest route so I was now running for the ferry as the one after was at 6pm. I tried thumbing lifts with no success and only my determination stopped my legs falling off, I made it with about 2mins to spare and was one sweaty mess as it was still about 25’C I got on board and enjoyed the 35min ride back, giving me chance to recover. Later that evening I took another stroll after dark. The city truly is spectacular at night.
