Diamond ice

Monday brought with it time to try the Denny’s all you can eat pancakes. So I got through 5 and Amanda 3. They were good pancakes and came with cream and syrup  After breakfast we got the free trolley [bus] to Hilo Hattie  a big tourist shop full of Hawaiian goods, we didn’t spend long here and got a bus across to downtown to see the ioloma palace which is opposite the building used on the New Hawaii Five-O series. Amanda didn’t seem to be interested but then we walked to see the twin towers here and on to the marina and back to Waikiki.
We relaxed and rested our feet before heading for Denny’s but as they had closed for maintenance we found a beer bar nearby and had a taste of a number of different Hawaiian beers along with some big pizza, not a cheap dinner but very much worth it.

Tuesday, time to have a breakfast at Denny’s this time I had a fry up. After this we headed of to Enterprise and booked our car rental for the next day. From here we wandered to the bus stop to get the bus to Diomond Head. This was a local attraction which involved a walk up what looked like a crator. Its an old military base and defence area, the walk is up the hill side to the old military post at the top. We were waiting there and a taxi driver said $3 per person to take to Diomond head. So for a extra $1 we took the taxi, not only was it quicker  but it took us up to entrance 🙂 the cost was $1 to enter the park and then we started out up the park. It took around 35 mins to get up to
Diamond head lookout. When we got back down I had a shaved ice! Coconut and Strawberry!

We walked out and down to the nearest bus stop and then we saw our friendly taxi driver who pulled over and offer the same deal back, so we took it.

That evening on our way to dinner we came across a hula show. Amanda watched the whole event I got a little bored after 10 mins. After the show we went and got a beer before headed to Denny’s where it was Tuesday all you can eat spag bol.

On the way back I also ended up buying a ukulele, not a cheap one at that, but its handmade in Hawaii and sounds awesome so all gd.
