Fire! Evacuate the building and visit Canberra

So Thursday was up early, hadn’t planned on it but someone had hit the fire alarm and so we all were evacuated. Blurrrr look at watch 7:30 right clothes on open locked and grab my small bag as it had all the important stuff in it, passport, wallet, flight info, phone, laptop, and camera. So got downstairs and outside and then 10mins later fire service said we could return. I headed up got a jumper and headed for the local Mc d’s to Skype. I found it and also found the Mall had free Wifi and that Mc D’s didn’t so was sat upstairs by a plug and Skyped. This all due to the YHA charging for Wifi @$7 a day stuff that. So 30mins later it kicked me of and told me I only get 30mins free, bugger! So used the phone to see if there were any other free Wifi about, I found one took a little while to track down but it was the Ice cream shop next to the Fruit based computer store so I sat outside on the bench and continued my Skype, very impressed as the call was perfect with camera’s as well, so I have found my Skype spot!

After this excitement I returned showered, had breakfast, made lunch and headed of towards the National Museum of Australia, about 2.5km away. I got there and put my bag in storage as not allowed them in the Museum, still had my camera. They have a curator’s area where you can see them working on work. Paper and textiles boring but then I saw the Royal Daimler and was transfixed for the next 30mins. They have got hold of the original Daimler that the Queen toured Australia in back on here Royal visit in 1954. Well she needs a lot of work but they hope to have it restored for 2014, 60 year anniversary.

I then started to tour the rest of the Museum and halfway through stopped for lunch. I then looked around the rest. It’s very interesting and covers all of Australia’s History and is a defiantly worth a visit after all its free!

I left around 4pm and decided to walk to Capital Hill where the Parliament building stands. Here I took pictures outside of both new and old parliament. I looked at the opening times and 10 minutes before it shut so I decided to leave it to another day to visit. I then headed back towards the hostel. I estimate I walked around 7miles today not a bad effort. Had a lie down and chill out for 30 mins before sorting dinner and then typing up the last couple of days.
