First few days of our adventure

So I collected Amanda from Auckland airport on Wednesday, she was a little late landing but it was all fine because it meant most of the rush hour traffic had gone. I was impressed with my navigation skill not requiring any Sat Nav to get to and from the Airport 🙂

It was awesome I was happy as now I would be of to see the rest of NZ and would mean less need to find wifi for skype sessions. We got back to Henderson and sorted kit out before an early one.

Thursday we head into Henderson to pop to the shops and to have what I thought would be a chilled day to help get over time zones, jet lag and lack of sleep. Introduced to Hockey pokey ice cream which we have a joint love for it and have even found out how to make it for when we return home.

The relaxing morning turned into a trip Auckland and a good wandered around the city, including the MacPac shop. Returning home to the Blewett house in Henderson, before a relaxing evening on the deck with some beers.

Friday we were up late as I think the jet lag and adventurous day before had taken some toll. We packed the van and headed of for a Brownsea reunion in Helensville with Clive and Eileen were we had dinner, beers and slept in the van. It was a fun evening and the kids were a laugh as well. We also all watched the film ‘In Time’ which is good if a little short.

Saturday we were off to Rotorua and stopped off at Pak n Save to get food shopping for a few days. On the way down we had a break at Hamilton for a late lunch at the gardens and after lunch took a wander around them. They were very beautiful with, themed county gardens which Amanda had great fun photographing with the wide angle lens.

On to Rotorua and we found a campers driveway to stay on for free overnight, lovely old lady and we will be back there for Sunday night as well. Late evening and perfect time for a trip to the Polynesian Spa, I had been here a couple of week s ago but this time we had a deluxe private spa which was $27 each and so only $2 more than the general spa. Totally private with a lake view and 38.8’C it was luxury and peaceful, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Pizza hut for dinner and then off to the driveway for our nights sleep.
