I’m on Top of the bottom of the World/NZ

Monday, after a good nights sleep even if it was freezing cold inside this morning [not sure why] I was up and out just after 9am. I had decided that even though it was a long old drive I was going to do it anyway and go all the way to the top of NZ, Cape Reinga. It ment today I was going to do around 250 miles at a top speed of 60 mph on the plus side NZ roads are quite empty. Also the roads a generally in a better state than the UK ones i.e no pot holes, take note highways agency! I got to Cape Reinga and it was definitely worth the drive as the view is spectacular and all around you feel in the middle of nowhere. This is not a tacky place like lands end back home this is just a road that not many take to the north and a small car park which could take about 20 cars and a couple of buses. There is a walkway down to the lighthouse on the point and a grassy track up to the top of the hill where its possible to see the two oceans colliding towards each other, causing quite a swell. [Photos at the bottom] From here headed back towards Whangarei stopping for lunch on the way and also picked up a dude hitch hiking to Whangarei as he was of there for a job interview. At Whangarei I checked into the YHA and had a Pizza hut for dinner, not the best but cheap and easy. Below shows my little weekend tour of 532 miles which is not a lot until you have driven at 60mph on NZ roads.
