On to Kiakoura

So up early ish to leave Picton we filled the van with Water and headed on South towards Kiakoria where we hoped to stay for the night. We stopped of in Blenheim at the I-Site to look at some information on the local area. Wasn’t long and we were back on the road. The scenery here is very strange. the lower lands are a burnt dry grass, while the hills reminded me of Snowdonia and the mountains even had snow on the tops of them, despite the hot summers day we were experiencing.

We stopped of on route for an ice cream and lunch finding a nice place that meant we could park up and wander some of the awesome coastline which was very windy and producing some great waves.

From here we headed on towards Kiakoura stopping of in the town itself for pictures and going to the DOC seal area. Amanda was loving the seals and we both got some great photos. From here it was around 5km to the campsite we were staying for the night. Cost $37 for the night which was expensive but meant we could have a shower and charge stuff up of the electric. There was also Wifi available so we could update and skype home.

The site was great and as the sun went down we sat and read with beers. It was also right next to the beach, so we took a stroll.
