Swinging our way to Camp Carry On.

We got up early and were on the road by 10am as I had found a Postshop open on Sunday in Nelson that we could sort our Road User Charge at by they closed at 15:30 and that was 180km away along some windy roads.

We got back on to SH6 and headed up north. On route we stopped of at the longest Swing bridge in NZ and paided the $5 to go over and back and this included a walk around the area that explained about the fault line running through there and how it had shifted in various earthquakes. It also explained on the floods of the river and showed how high they had been. The one of 2010 had been one of the worst.

From here we were back on the road for Nelson and arrived around 14:30 at the Postshop, sorted our User Charge and both felt much happier that we were legal again. From here we headed to a local campsite which had laundry amenities, it also had internet, power and showers.
What we dident realise was its a 54 acre site which is full of campers and apart from being under the flight path for Nelson it also has a tanoy system, it felt like i was in ‘Carry On… Camping NZ style’. Still we had our own little world in the van so not an issue.
